Brotherhood of St. Andrew

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a worldwide ministry with over 4,000 members in 357 chapters in the United States alone. The newly chartered chapter at Advent meets the second Tuesday of the month at 8:30 am in Paine Hall and via zoom. Our mission is to gather in prayer for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom among men and youth, to study the Holy Scriptures and the teachings of the church, and to bring others nearer to Christ through outreach in the community. All men of Advent and the surrounding community are welcome to join.
Leader: Bruce Dockter

Meals for Veterans

Currently 180 Veterans are living in a transitional housing facility run by US Vets Inc. Many live in “Motel style rooms” with a hot plate and small refrigerator and a microwave to prepare their meals. They are isolated and have little or no contacts with the community.

The Advent Feed the Vets meal program provides a home cooked meal on the 5th Fridays throughout the year. The Advent Team provides 8-10 caring men and women to prepare, deliver, and serve 100+ Veterans. This meal provides an opportunity for our congregation to interact with the Veterans in a ministry of presence, an opportunity to interact, pray or just chat with a caring member of the community, thus reducing isolation and assisting in their transition to civilian life.

The Veteran’s feeding ministry has been in existence since 2014, with Advent joining the ministry in 2020. Since 2014 - 5 Episcopal congregations have together provided more than 36,640 meals. Each parish outreach budget provides the funds to support this ministry.

9-Hole Swingers

Advent’s couples play golf one Sunday afternoon a month and then gather at someone’s house afterwards for “heavy snacks” and camaraderie.

Advent Church Women (ACW)

All women of the church are invited to be part of the ACW. ACW provides opportunities for fellowship and service to the church. They usually have three luncheons / general meetings each year.

Advent Church Women (ACW) Financial Outreach

ACW donates financial support annually to various deserving organizations in the Northwest Valley.

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is a lay order of Episcopal women who have taken a lifetime vow to follow Christ by daily prayer, service and evangelism.  Each Daughter decides how she will meet her vows.  We lead the Stations of the Cross during Lent as one of our services and assist the Priest as needed.
Leader: Lynn Long

Diaper Drive

Diapers are collected annually and distributed to various organizations.

Happy Hat Hookers

This group “hooks” hats for homeless children and adults and anyone who may need them. The group meets the 4th and 5th (if there is one) Mondays of the month from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
Leader: Judy Purdy

Helping Hands

The purpose of this Ministry is to make and deliver blankets and pillows for abused, homeless, or otherwise needy people, as well as to provide fellowship for the women and service to the community. The group meets the first three Mondays of the month from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
Leader: Judy Purdy

Rummage Sale

The ACW works together with the Men’s Club to provide both social and fundraising activities to support outreach needs in the community. A major fundraising project is the annual Rummage Sale.

Advent Episcopal Ministries

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
